We all seem to be eating at home a lot more these days because of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
With all this extra time to make home-cooked meals, it also highlights the struggles that come with finding a way to make a variety of meals at home and ensure the food we have in our fridge doesn’t go to waste before our next grocery trip.
On my first trip to the grocery store a couple of weeks ago, in preparation for an anticipated statewide “stay at home order”, my local grocery stores were completely cleared out of my usual food items. All of the vegetables and fresh meat were completely cleared out from the shelves. I had to make do with what was available. Prior to quarantine life, I loved to cook and was fairly creative when it came to making home-cooked meals. However, I had no idea what I was going to do in the coming weeks if all of my meals hinged on whatever was leftover in the grocery stores. For example, the only meat available to me was beef stew meat, sweet potatoes, carrots, etc.
This is what led me to discover an awesome tool online that helps you discover recipes with the food that is already in your fridge. You can put in whatever ingredients you have in your fridge and it will list recipes that you can make with what you already have. I anticipate I will use this throughout the “stay at home order” to find simple & delicious recipes. They have categories from dips, sandwiches/burgers, salads, breakfast, lunch, dinner, crock-pot recipes, and desserts. MyFridgeFood is a great community of people submitting and sharing recipes based on what’s already in the kitchen.

This should help make your quarantine mealtime routine a bit easier.
